East German Shepherds, West German Shepherds and German Shepherd Puppies. We are located approximately 25 miles north
of Boston.

Our goals for breeding are to produce German Shepherd dogs with outstanding working ability, proper structure and most important a sound temperment. Eventhough some of our German Shepherds are placed in working homes, most go to families with children. These German Shepherds are excellent, loyal companions.

Our German Shepherd dogs have West German working lines and East German 100% DDR lines. The East German Shepherds / DDR German Shepherds are known for their large bones, big blocky head, sound temperment and dark pigmentation. These DDR dogs are also known for excellent health and low incidents of hip dysplasia. With proper training these East German Shepherds are capable of doing Schutzhund, search and rescue, police K-9 and personal protection. Most of our dogs are worked in tracking, obedience, protection or all on a weekly basis. German Shepherds are working dogs, they like to have a job and strive to please their owner. What's a DDR German Shepherd?

East German Shepherd A DDR German Shepherd Dog is a German Sheperd from the Deutshe Demokratishe Republik, also known as East Germany. At the start of WW2, the German Shepherd dog became very popular in Germany. Unfortunately, during the war, many of the dogs were recruited into the military and did not survive due to the unavailability of food supplies. At the end of WW2, the capital city of Berlin was divided into the east and the west zone by the Berlin Wall. East Berlin and East Germany remained under communist control until November 9, 1989 when the Berlin Wall was opened. Prior to that time, East German Dogs were kept isolated from West German Dogs and dogs from surrounding countries. Therefore, they retained their own distinct characteristics.

The DDR/East German Dogs are lean, strong and capable of working in many different environments. They are known for their dark pigmentation, heavy bone structure and big blocky head. They also have a low incident of hip dysplasia. These dogs are well suited for Schutzhund, police work, search and rescue, as well as a great family pet.
